What makes the Horse rise and fall
In eternal race with the ones ahead
How the glittering dreams crash
Into a dizzy spell of enchantment
Wildly hanging on in merry glances
The piped music grows on you
Making you ride as if you belong
The smiles widen and eyes glimmer
And everything seems perfect, beautiful
Even if there may be one bulb out
Here and there among the fanciful
It goes unnoticed in the slow motion
Thrill of ridng with the pretend wind
Some do become ill. Some do not approve
Of such a whimsy of light fantastic
The artwork of the ride is ignored
Too childish, too silly, too much
For someone to understand
As they spin out of control
In a corner

very cool...you wrote this so well with the imagery and the sounds...and the pace that you created...that you had the reader spining and hearing those piped songs.....
very clever and creative write
well done poetess RW

Anyone else reminded of a Blue Magic song here?
Guess it was just me.

Well done! Nice imagery.

Ride on girly!    Great flow of words and imagery.  I liked the originality of your metaphor.

As usual, Regina, your words have me enthralled. I love the metaphor, the pictures you paint, the whole piece.

Hey, my horse was always winning the race the rest trying to catch up. Enjoyed.

Richard said it before I could.  I remember the days of the truly large and ornate "merry-go-rounds" and the brass rings for a free ride.  Of course I was only a child and could not reach that far.  Once stood on my hoss and was severly reprimanded by the operator but I told him I was a trick rider with lots of experience ... he didn't buy it

Well writ.

Very nice, Regina, interesting way to approach this one. Remind me to refer you to a poem about painted horses that Spitfire did a while ago. I can't quite remember the name. You would enjoy it, I think. Similar theme, done slightly differently
