He Steals Your Eyes

by Michael

You wander in your little life.
So easy it, to compromise.
You'll never know how much you've lost,
because you let him steal your eyes.

Jealousy takes everything.
You're pigeonholed, you've so few friends.
He does what he wants, you agree.
He never tries to make amends.

Imprisoned, you accept your fate
and even find some bliss in it.
How weak you are, you stand on knees
and cherish every little bit.

He takes your eyes, he locks the chains,
your world is small, you'll never grow.
Sometimes you’ll let him cheat on you
and then pretend you do not know.

So, make the beds and clean the house.
Your world will always be the same.
Don't ask him where he went last night.
You'll never grow and you're to blame.

Your words so true Michael.  Sometimes we make our own prisons....and sometimes we do not water the flower that could be......
well said Michael.  As always, your words move me.

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

Excellent poet sir.

Michael...unfortunately there are a lot of
women that depend so much for what they feel
they need....they then become second class
citizens because some insensitive jerk
made sure they felt that way....  You have
said it very well...

Wow, Michael. An interesting change of pace.
Sadly, too many people become dependent upon their partners and willingly sacrifice themselves. But I've seen it go both ways, with the man being the one to sit there waiting.

a very sad piece of writing, unfortunately, true in so many cases.

And rots everything a person could be...with no compassion or trust...And yes..you are so right...one must break out of the chains. Very strong Michael...I appreciate anyone who feels no one should be chained.

Sincerely,
Regina

Michael,

This is very true about alot of women.. unfortunately.  They settle for what they have.. their self esteem so slow they think they won't find anyone else.  Very powerful write

Gentle Spirit,
Thank you. Some wise words from you here.

Nancy,
What is it with women and dimples. LOL!  I hate my dimples. (seriously, I do) Thanks, Nancy.

Magnus,
You're exactly right.  Thanks for reading.

Kacy,
Yes, but no one has the right to take the any freedom from another.  Thank you.

Lady of Shallot,
Thanks for reading.  Unfortunately, too often true.

Interloper,
Cheating is also a form of abuse, in my opinion. Thanks!

Regina,
Yes, you're right.  And yes, no one, man or woman, should have their lives stifled by another.  Thank you and (((hugs))) my friend

Tara,
And all that does is make their self esteem all the lower.  Thank, sweetie *hugs*

Susan,
You hit the nail on the head, sweetie.  Thank you! (((hugs)))

I suppose its easier for me to say since I've never been through this that I can't imagine I would live very long in a situation like this. Years ago, perhaps..now, I think I must be headed more in a direction where I know what I want and how I want to be treated. This is poetry with truth, Micheal. Enjoyed.

Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence.

(tears fall down my cheeks) My heart cries out to all those who sacrifice what they strive for, their dreams, their hopes, and for love and put their stress and anger to jealousy and waste so much time only falling deeper into sorrow and unrest. (sad sigh) This is such a sad but true aspect of life! (big hugggsssssss) Your loving heart cries out tin this wonderful poem with compassion! (sigh) I pray that love and understanding may replace all of this sadness! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Sadly true for many, a person holds on as long as they love. Great poem.

Ouch, this one hurts a little, I can see how easy it is to be the one with stolen eyes. Good points made, very sad story.
