Every flower I received in my
life was beautiful.
The wildflowers my daughter picked,
the paper ones
my son brought home from school-
all of them.
Each one meant something.

But, my friend, it really wasn't
the flowers that
gave me joy.   It was and is
the petals.

They fall into our lives
for a reason.

For you see, when the petals
begin to fall that's when we
feel love, hope
and we can live again.

After a rose has drank her fill;
does not need
to cling then, her petals
trust again.
She….. falls…..tumbling through
the air after the walls
have been shattered….a silent
fragrance-
as if a river were running
through her…

Oh, a petal tears away slowly at first,
fragile and curled,
not knowing, not believing,
everything inside of it
says "Stay",  on the bud,
wrapped - safe?
No, it must fall…… in complete surrender.

yes, oh yes, ummmmm
it falls one day, softly.

You know the petals,
don't you?
We all have them.
Maybe you have one petal you've left on the
bud, that one petal you've not crushed?

Don't be afraid to let it fall,
they are all time well spent……

I read this and I immediately thought of the scene in the movie "Bread and Tulips" when the mans lover had left him and he was sitting at the table watching the petals fall from the flowers and when the last one fell he went after her to bring her back...James

Don't be afraid to let it fall,

I like your philosophy on this.  It's kind and makes life seem softer.

a memory shared by the touch of love ...

A wonderful poem, Lady, with a fresh view of love's gifts as falling petals.
That picture of me was really cool. (Hah, don't I wish)

Beaufifully written, and yes, I believe we probably always have one more petal on the bud (and by the way, you may be better looking than the model, but dammit, I want her figure!!!)

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Magnus, what a lovely thing to say, thank you very much.

ctowen, thank you I'm glad you enjoyed this.

Midnitesun, yes, I wish too although I still have a few attributes
that I hope to tap into soon!  Thank you for replying!

Tracey, yes, this woman must have come from the sea, she's too
good to be true!
but the picture
was irresistible for the thought I had about petals!  Thank you for reading.
