Taffy Heart

taffy heart
I must confess
is a sweet
sticky mess
pulled and stretched
still holds together
still sweet
after salt water weather
the more it was pulled
it lightens and glosses
separated from dark
and all it’s losses
while you touch it
feel it’s heat
a taffy heart
can be a treat

I must confess,

when unwrapping these words sweet,
I expected them to pull at the heart,
To be touched when the read was complete,
But it’s that clinging sticky part,
Those long strings of pulled sweet,
That are best.

Shed not too much salt when making,
Never let those sweet strings be breaking,
Although there will be times that break apart,
Stick with that sweet slick clinging heart.

(smiles) Yep yep yep! In a way, all our hearts are like taffy; friends stick together to the friend, and memories stick to our hearts as long as we live, as do true loves melt together!
