A collar pulling day
Snuggling the chin in
The lip numbing crisp air

Walking to the local book store
Still.. the street crowded
Faces shrouded
Hurried

Must get to the store in time
To select my novel of choice
To keep my mind knitting
Sweaters of imagination
During the hibernation
Of the bitter cold.

Within an hour I had my stash
Merrick and Pandora
Seemed wickedly enough
To suffice the long moments
Anne always pays the price for me.

Upon leaving the shoppe
My books knocked from me
By a cloaked man
Aggravated I bent to retrieve them
He stopped just to give a hand

As apologetic as he was
I never looked up
Just dusted off my brief anger

His voice was smooth and sincere
I thought he lit away
He stood long enough
For me to catch a silken shadow
Just around the green of his eyes

Whatever I was going to say
I forgot it
He held me in swells of shining shores
Never before had I seen such space
And time released as a Nova
Within the sparkling stones he bore

A single breath in, then out
Then gone...I turned...blushing
Heating the chilling breeze
Etched from the stoic chisel
He had smoothed into my space
Remembering clutched books
Remembering how cold the winter
Really is.

It's all in the mind
Except for what's in the heart.

Wow, I'm off to the bookstore, see if I can bump into a mesmerizing stranger!!! Actually, I was going to go there yesterday, for the same reason as you. There's nothing like a cold winter day for wrapping up in front of the fire with a good book. I spend most of my winter in that position.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Regina~ This felt like a scene out of a movie...I really got wrapped up in it!  I love the deep undertones that come through between the lines.  Lovely thoughts!

Janet: Thanx bunches! I'm the bookworm for sure.

Nancy: I may try again..depends on my Muse...but I surely thank you for your gracious comment!

Karen: You are so good for encouragement! Thank you very much!!! Hugs!

Tracey: Yes...books are very good to me in winter...would feel so lost without them. Thanks Lady!

Krista: I appreciate you so for seeing things as you do...I'm so glad I conveyed it to you that way! Hugs!

Martie: That is the essence here...especially when you don't choose it to happen...it just does..very rare in the blushing department....Thank you so much!

I experienced the "bustling" sort of action as you moved, and the descriptive nature of your closing stanzas is sharp, and exact. Another keeper, I'd say.

Dear Regina, you truly live in a world of enchantment which I envy, your stranger of mistery and charm surely looks back on the same moment with a heart still yearning your smile of forgiveness.
Moments like these do not come all that often, and when they do we seem to do too little with them, another moment of regret.

Loved the read Regina, another great piece.

Sincerely
Rick

excellent writing..you once again capture the imagination of the reader with imagery and metaphor that leaves them longing for more...and in this case perhaps for green eyes that in some way effect you...as did this mystery....

lovely write... as usual.

"Merrick and Pandora". . .    of course. . .

I like this. . . a piece of a day. . . a piece of life. . . the emotions. . . like you are the observer of your own life. . . that's the best isn't it??

great job. . .

This just proves that things that go bump in the day sometimes have more impact than those bump in the night.   (facetiously smiling here)
