It Was Fate

Our love was written on the page of fate
in just a simple phrase or two that said
“He came into her life but could not wait
and as a summer wind, he swiftly  fled”

The passion in a lightning’s flash was gone
But love still lingers in each fragrant breath
of summer garden’s scent of floral balm
And stays with me, and follows him in death

And so I added to the simple phrase
upon the page of fate, a humble rhyme
and through the years, the few but golden days
Have filled a volume with a moment’s time

I know that his sweet love still lives in me
within the phrase I tenderly transpose
from out his essence to my poetry
unleashing love in verses I compose

I cannot speak of fortune or of fate
for fortune does not pause at garden’s gate
and fate abides in swiftness of the wind
But love dwells for a lifetime deep within

Very nice, indeed. You choice of words paints a wonderful image.

*sigh* now this speaks of love the way it is meant to be. I love the soft gentle flow of your words. It was truly fate that you love like this. Magnificent writing.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Fate indeed, and summer's wind
has wondrously given me
a love sung verse, a voice on wind,
all for poetry

I believe in fate, love, and that love lives forever in us.  This was simply beautiful.
