I am not a voice on the web
A signature penned in hugs
My expression cannot weep on blue.
I cannot dance across the stage,
Free.

But I have expression also.
My soul weeps for my children
For your children.
My spirit seeks truth through
ravaged night and oppressive morn.
I am confused for I only know
what I am told.

I am not a voice delivered on
currents of air
the glint in my eyes cannot see
the  sun.
I cannot reach the world
through a screen,
what do I know?

I know my babes hunger
the same as yours.
My body aches for passion
the same as yours.
My heart cries for understanding
the same as yours.
My prayers ascend
the same as yours.

I am not a voice on the web,
but merely a veiled mystery.
Please don’t hate me,
I am but a lady without a voice....

heard.

and so, to speak for those who have no voice. . . is to speak, even when silent. . .

well done. . . a portrait that reminds us all. . .

I have to say, this made me shed another tear. But I thank you very much for this. Many years ago I painted a portrait of a Bedouin, a nomadic desert girl I met while in the Negev. I called her Omani, since I didn't know her real name. This picture reminded me of her, though she wore a veil, unable to show her face in public. When I painted her, I left off the veil, for all the world to see her beguiling Mona Lisa smile, which I knew was underneath. I hope she is ok.

I purposely chose a graphic with no veil, because I truly believe that all women everywhere are absolutely beautiful. Thank you Mitnitesun for replying.

Lady of Shallot - This was fantastic, and bless you for this, bless you.  May I please put something here for people to see about the oppression of these women dictated by the Taliban?  If you wish it removed please email me at mysteriasmuse@hotmail.com and I will remove it, but it made me cry, and in the same token, it made me thank my lucky stars for all I have.  By the way, your link does not link.

Please go down the page after the graphics on this page............

Lady---This is honestly the most sincere, and probably accurate attempt that I have read trying to understand those who are really just like us.  Perhaps, the best way to deal with Bin Laden and other male terrorists, would be to give them a sex change operation and send them back to live under Taliban rule as a female.  (Though, I wish that had been my idea, I received it in an email).

Tracey,
I feel that to write larger than ourselves provides an inner healing that speaking for myself is sorely needed. Thank you for reading and understanding.

Mysteria, of course the link is appreciated and I am SO glad you understood
this.  I must check out that link, I acquired the picture from goggle. Thank you for reading and for understanding.

Amelia, yes, thank you and you know to write for others makes one
appreciate the blessings they do have and not dwell on their own
private hells.

Duncan, I think that is a fabulous idea  and you know women are really
all alike underneath it all. We're all beautiful! Thank you for reading.

Lady, this is the very emotion that Passions is all about...sharing, caring, showing strength in times of tragedy...

your heart and your words are so welcome here...

These words reflect so much emotion.  Emotions that too many women around the world
have personally experienced.  Your voice, one
single voice has made an impact by sharing
those feelings to thousands.....Thousands
will read and many will sadly reflect.

Sunshine, yes, I realize that this IS what Passions (and poetry too for that matter) is all about. Not sitting around feeling sorry for oneself!  Thank you.

Magnus, Oh, I hope so and you know why? Because no matter what I'VE been through?
This lady makes me weep. Thank you for reading.

Yes we are and should be a voice for the voiceless. I remember that striking woman when I visited that website after the tragedy. It's important to remember the beauty and innocense that's hidden not only from us (possibly by us) but from even those of whom are it's source. Enjoyed

This is beautiful, I've done some correspondence overseas and just recently in the Middle East, luckily before Sept. 11th.
This is a moving, needed message ina troubled world and I commend you for it.

Dear Lady of Shallot - May the veil one day soon, be lifted, never to be lowered again over the faces of our suffering sisters. Very well written, Chris
