I can not take
The trash out yet
It’s raining and
I might get wet

Besides I worked
Hard from the start
To build this sculptured
Work of art.

I filled the basket
To the brim.
My trash was looking
Mighty grim

When it got full
I crushed it down
To make more space
Gave it a pound

Because of course
I then could fit
More trashy stuff
Inside of it

But I won’t let
It overflow
I’ll balance
Everything just so

That empty box
Can stand on end
And cardboard stays
With just a bend

I stuff some paper
Here and there
Pour on swept dust
From everywhere

Egg shells on top
And coffee grounds
Fill in those gaps
That I have found

Then all my toil’s
Solidified
With crumpled foil
Stuffed in the side

I’m proud to say
This skill of mine
For balancing
My trash art’s fine

I wonder now
If I should stop
Or let it span
The counter top

I'll take it out
Oh, what the heck
It’s only just
Across the deck

The rain has stopped
All righty then
I’ll empty it
And start again

Just like you don't want to mow the lawn because it'll interfere with the dandelions' growth, Nan?

God bless America, my home sweet home.

This is priceless.  And I have to confess that my own trash art also extends to the counter sometimes.  Don't even mention the one in the frig!  Loved this, Nan.

I sent you a parcel
by UPS.
What’s inside?
Well you try to guess.

I found some things,
I know you’ll adore,
from here and there,
on my kitchen floor.

A ball of fluff,
as big as my fist,
yucky veggie peels,
an old grocery list.

Something real hard,
from what I was baking,
figured you’d want it,
for the sculpture you’re making.

I even sent you,
something to use for glue,
Hope it helps,
it was stuck on my shoe.

LOL...I thought I was the expert in trash art...but Nan, you take the cake. (Maybe the one Mysteria sent?) And as for Duncan's response, my mom was the official #1 fridge trash artist. Me? I have a good excuse, it is freezin outside!

You mean rain is an acceptable excuse to continue sculpturing? *G* It's so soggy down here I should be able to create a masterpiece. *S* This is delightful, Nan!

I do thank you, kind friends.. .. I did finally take the trash out - It was a simple choice - that or asphyxiation...

Elizabeth - SSHHHHH.... Don't tell... I don't shovel snow either..

Sea - I bet my sculpture is taller than yours - I use BIG barrels...

Duncan - Who let you out of class?...

Mysteria -
I've used your gum
To glue my art
My sculpture now
Won't fall apart

Midnitesun - What, you're one of those Nordic types who live in the frozen tundra and get sun 23 hours a day?.. (Svenska here)..

suthern - Sending you a sunbrella..

Sunshine - suthern needs you...

Huge grins here
You have taken the mundane and raised it to ART

This is priceless. This sounds like my trash too, especially in the winter when it's too damn cold to take it out. Then, there is always room for a little more trash in the bag

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

I remember this one ... you may have taken it out, but the truck delivered it to the keeper gallery of fine collectables
