I Cannot Know Your Breath

by Michael

I cannot know your breath,
or pounding heart
against my chest,
your sighs and moans.

I cannot taste your flesh
or breathe
the fragrance of your hair,
as I would want.

Content,
I’ll have to be
to hold your hand.

I will kiss you
with my tender ways,
my gentleness,
for
all my days.

Well....you certainly have taken my breath away. Lovely. Chris

Wow....I have just loved the whole piece and I would have to qoute it all if I were to tell where I like it best.

Such a tender loving write....Certainly it would go into my library.

Thank you so much

How well this speaks for those who know they can only have but a part of another, be content with that, and still be whole.  This is wonderful, and of course, from you pen, I would expect nothing less...

And as you breathe the fresh night air
know that in our hearts
we will always be there
