If there was no Heaven; no streets of gold to tread; no band of angels waiting to greet me when I'm dead; If there was no crown of life; no mansion built for me; If the gates of pearl were just a myth and there was no crystal sea; If there was nothing to be won; no rewards that bore my name; If there was no Paradise I would have loved you just the same. If there was no "Well done, my son" and I received no robe of white; no walk and talk with saints of old; no brilliant, blinding light; If the end was just the end; One day I'm here and then I'm gone; If there was no throne to kneel beside; no sands of time to walk upon; If the only thing you ever gave was the blood that stained a cross; Still I'd serve you to my dying day no matter what the cost. Thank you for walking by my side and for your mercy great. Thank you for all you've done for me and for my home that's on the way. You've already done so much for me that I really need to say... If there was no Heaven I would have loved you anyway. |
