*Repost from Open #12, for my Dad*

hello,
I know that we have this conversation every year
and every year, I alaways seem to ask you the same questions
          are you proud of me?
did I make the right decisions?
          what would you have done?
of course, I'll never really know, but it's nice to ask
you see,
I tried to be someone that you could be proud of
tried to remember the lessons that you taught
and sure, I made mistakes, wrong decisions, we all do
you did. . . or so I've been told
and it wasn't that I was trying to emulate you
because I couldn't be you, I could only be me
carrying your name with me down life's road
it's the one thing of yours that I can never lose
it will always be with me
it speaks to me
so that when I ask the questions

there are always

answers. . .

thanks Dad. . .

Me, age 2, and my Dad

What incredible timing, Sveetie...I love this one as you know! (and by the way--I've decided to carry my father's name as well...that's right, the wedding's off again!)

This is a touching poem Sven.

Great poem, Sven, and I looked at the pics, strangely just today I started trying to do a page of old family photos, but can't make them small enough! You sure were a cute little guy.

This is very nice, Sven.  I lost my father exactly twenty years ago and yet I still ask him these questions.  Thank you for helping me remember my own dad.

The first picture...there is something very similar in the tilt of your fathers head to your own in the pic here.  Touched by both words and pictures.  Thanks!

Thank you all my friends. . . I just thought that I'd share this with all of you again, and with some of you for the first time. . . it's been 23 years since he's been gone. . . and I still wonder. . . but, I know that he's there. . . and that he speaks to me. . .

Thank you all again. . . and I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures. . .
