I sit here in my kitchen
Warm breeze from outside touches my skin
Stereo plays a popular tune
As I search once again for the answers within

I know you do what you do
Only out of love and care
But can't you see that I'm hurting
This turmoil I can no longer bare

You know that I love you
But I'm a grown woman now Dad
Why do you take the good from my life
Try to turn the tables & make me feel bad

Cutting the ties that bind are hard
I see the pain written clearly on your face
But don't you understand
That you I am not trying to replace

I'll always need you
You're my Dad and one of my best friends
Please don't make this more than it is
This isn't the end

But I am grown now Dad
I'm not a little girl anymore
It's time for me to spread my own wings
See if I have what it takes to soar

When I've flown around a little
I promise I'll come back and see you
Don't look so sad please
Unpaint your heart of blue

Both of our prides prevent us
From saying what we want to say
Thank you for all you've done
I love you more each and every day

If you gaze out at the Carolina sky
Look a little in the distance and you will see
A woman whose all grown up and on her own
You'll smile to yourself, realizing that woman is me

shining through...
i see your true colors
and that's why i love you"

Amy, beautifully put alittle respect from your father regarding ur life choices would go a very long way. I hope you both get there together.  Luv, Annette

it's the hardest thing to do. . . but slowly. . . he will. . . well, not really. . . it will just look that way. . .

it's the old phrase, "holding on by letting go. . ."

wonderful my friend. . .
