These memories

Packed away and dusty
Defy forgetfulness

Even time

When we love

I like it Mark, past mistakes are forgoten, so are past loves.

Thanks, Dan, very much for the read and response, but (no offense, please...) I will respectfully have to vehemently disagree with you:  past mistakes should NEVER be forgotten;  rather, placed into perspective and learned from.  And as to past loves...  most DEFINITELY NEVER forgotten;  rather, appreciated and cherished as fond memories of one's life and understood to be parts of what constitutes the whole of one's self.

Sunshine, thank you very much for your kind words.  Indeed, when paused in "the right moments", one can become all "for a brief infinity"...

Ron, thank you too for your comments.  I'm still experimenting with this new format and style...

To me, this says that love is impossible to forget, even when we try. And as you say, it is good to learn from everything, and hold close the good parts.

I got a slightly different first impression of this.  It seemed, to me, to describe that odd phenomenon of recalling the most obscure and apparently meaningless things when in the company of one you love, especially if the memories are mutual.  A re-reading also revealed another interpretation, but that was my first thought.  I enjoyed this very much.

Well, Ted...  I don't think that those things are meaningless, necessarily, since they were obviously retained for a reason, but I do know what you mean.  Interesting take...

I agree with you Mark. But in the short term of making love maybe it's best to set those thoughts aside temperialy.

Past mistakes help us to learn and grow. Past loves prepare us to love again with more understanding. *sigh* I like this poem and the way it spoke to me.

Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams.

True Dan, but really depending on what exactly those memories are...  sometimes they're really funny or come across as extremely cute and add to the present experience, helping two to bond even closer...

Startime, I agree.  I'm glad this poem resonated with you.  Thanks for the read and reply.

Aahhh..for (sentimental) reasons I will remember this one. As it is true in all things passionate. We shall not forget! Lovely. I really like this style. It provokes more thought.
Sincerely,
Rwood

Thank you, Rwood...  sometimes it's exactly the "little insignificant things" which contain the deepest significance, perhaps not in and of themselves, but in the thoughts and realization which they cause to surface...

faterider:  thanks for the "excavation"!  Glad you can relate.  This series of poems is all about brevity (hence the name "Twenty Or Less...").  Keep your eye out for more...

very nice Mark. I do admire this ability you have of saying so much in so few words.
this piece says to me that when love touches a person or even a thing in our life, it goes forever to our "archives".

Constance:  thank you.  I'm still practicing with this format...  Very accurate interpretation.

Interloper:  you got that right!  And the stronger the experience (usually), the stronger the memory...
