It's cold inside…
And the fire we built
Has died over time
To a few embers.

Perhaps…
If kindled with care
then blown on
With gentleness
They can be coaxed
Into flame again…

I remember the heat

How it built
consumed
was shared…

When did we forget
To feed the fire?

Were we asleep…
To the need and desire
To stay warm?

It's cold inside…

And the fire we built
Has left ashes
That drift with each
Passing breeze,

Scattering the memories

Come closer…
And hold my hand.

Perhaps we can spark
The tender
Again.

wonderfully tender

wanting

how about the swing on the veranda
on a warm summer night neath the pale moon's light
a hand hold
strokes of silver haired tresses
tantalizing lip caresses
thigh by thigh thoughts
want to's or knots
that bind the love you share

Very nice. I wonder if it is ever truly possible to rekindle a fire that is out. I know I've tried to no avail.
Good write.

You've done the classic fire/love analogy justice in this piece.  Good work

Where there is hope, there is a chance...
Where there is desire, there is circumstance...
Where there is effort, there is accomplishment...

Nice write, Ron.

This is a wonderful poem. It probably strikes home for many middle aged couples. Where there's an ember there is always the hope of a raging bond fire.

Do not fear going forward slowly,
Fear only standing still.

With a little tender loving care
And gas and a match or two
Your fire could again be there
Or boom!  It could be the end of you.

I like your use of the fire analogy here.
Very nice write!

I really like this.
The fire must be feed.
If there’s an ember, give it a try.

Good write.
