Blue-green water sweeps me down
Swirling bubbles all around
I gasp...I cough...I choke and then
I'm pulled back under yet again.
The dream's the same night after night
A horrid tale and full of fright
It's just a dream and yet I know
It has the power to frighten me so.
I reach for you and you're not there
I can't carress your silken hair
I cannot hear you softly breathe
Cannot hear you quietly dream.
I'm drowning inside cause you're not here
It fills me with the same horrid fear
As the drowning dream I spoke about
The painful longing, sorrow and doubt.
Without you I'm dying, can't you see?
You are my lifeguard, rescue me!

Ahh what the subconscious mind can do. She needs to throw you a floatie and let you drift a while in sweetness.   Enjoyed very much.

Oh my, yes, what a scary nightmare, and to feel like that without the one you love, yes, it is akin to drowning. I like the ending, made it seem lighter somehow.
Excellent poem.
