In a corporeal internship...

0 posted 2001-09-04 11:29 PM

Inside my mother's kitchen,
Within a tomb of frost,
Lie things due to a glitch in
A space that time had lost

Unlike the friendly oven
Which has nothing to hide,
This sacrilegious coven
Has secrets to confide...

What alchemy forgotten
Transmutes red steak to green?
What else has it begotten
Beneath the silver sheen?

With Howard Carter's courage,
My girlfriend neared the door
No jokes made would discourage
Her from the task in store...

Makes me recall with my in-law's freezer died...and we didn't discover it for a week...to top it off, it was in the basement...

one can only imagine what transpired...

Sandra -- chuckles are a good way to start a day, and I hope yours continues with a smile.

JM, thank you for the friendly comments.  I wonder if the Missing Link lies buried in there somewhere...

That's an interesting idea, Ron -- vignettes...  I wonder where that would lead...  Thanks for the nice words.

Fascinating, Richard -- that's an angle I never considered.  Once again, I'm appreciating the magical ability of poetry to contain numerous interpretations for different people, even beyond the author's conscious knowledge...  Thanks for the insight.

My Lady, that indeed sounds chilling...  imagine if such an environment is a breeding ground for biogenetics and cryogenics -- with just a slight adjustment in temperature...  we may end up with the next X-Files episode...

Wynter, I enjoyed your visit here -- thank you.

Tracey, may the rest of the day keep you chuckling.  Thanks for the read.

Connie:  ...cute until the aluminum foil is peeled back to expose...  to reveal...  Thanks for the smile.

Balladeer:  as long as you escape without freezer-burn...

I'd say she is a keeper! It's amazing what cultures grow in the fridge. Light off, light on. Yuck, but how sweet and brave your lady is. Great slice of life!

Sincerely,
Regina

Indeed, she is, Regina -- more than even she knows.  Thanks for the read.
