My Night

by Michael

Under a night filled with lonely stars,
I breathe salt air,
listening to splashes made
by schools of fish,
leaping from the water
to avoid a predator.

With a quick motion, I spin
and cast a net into the dark waters.
Drawing it in,
I find fish, squid, a crab, a few shrimp.
I set them free,
to journey through their night,
as find a way through my own.

An almost full moon
sprinkles its ivory light upon the deep.
I watch it dance
and can’t help but appreciate
its beauty.

I catch a quick glimpse
of moonlit feathers
as a large bird of prey snatches
an unwary fish, then once again becomes
part of the darkness.

Boats tied to the dock
moan, as they move
with the receding tide,
longing to follow it to sea.

Fireflies also sprinkle
their own tiny lights,
as I sit in peace,
in thought,
just resting.

Rest, Sweet Friend for these are the things we need to enjoy and cherish. The little beauties that God provides for us. This is beautiful, Micheal.

So good to see you here, Michael. Looks to me like you're spending a bit of free time fishing   Well it hasn't done any harm to your writing.

Lovely!

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
