In a corporeal internship...

Half a year with no trace of you...
Everything seemed to say we're through
Even though you said you would call,
Six months passed with no word at all
So I picked up the phone
Hoping I'd find you alone...

And we talked for an hour-and-a-half --
Just like old times, but we didn't laugh...
After all you and I've been through...
"It was 'nice' talking to you"...

You explained how you couldn't sleep
For your guilt had become so deep
Yet you chose to remain with him
And our bright future became dim
But despite all the blows,
I forgave you a long time ago...

And we talked for an hour-and-a-half --
Just like old times, but we didn't laugh...
After all you and I've been through...
"It was 'nice' talking to you"...

We all have to decide
To do what we feel is right
Though I don't understand,
I respect the ring on your hand...

So I guess it's our last goodbye...
And with that, part of me has died
Moving on means letting go...
I will miss you more than your know
You're a part of my soul
You're the half that made me whole...

And I wish you the best in life
May you find yourself as his wife
I just hope that you're being true...
It was nice talking to you...

After all you and I've been through...
"It was 'nice' talking to you"...

Very well expressed, Mark. Letting go is the hardest thing to do.

Oh My, if this is another moment in your life, we are running awfully parallel. Sure does hurt. But with communication open there is always hope. At least until we get mad enough to say NO MORE. Well, post dissertation, I will say, this ia a lovely poem, with much heart.

It's always difficult to say good bye, but to say it this way with good wishes, You've said it well.

Do not fear going forward slowly,
Fear only standing still.

It's not so much the "letting go", Denise (do we ever truly "let go"?), but rather -- the moving on...  Thanks for the read and reply.

Thank you, Sandra...  seems there's "always more"...

Yes they do, Sy...  and sometimes, we can make things happen, too...  Thanks for reading and responding.

Thanks, Walker...  glad you think so.

Daniel, thank you.  Saying "goodbye" has never been easy or pleasant with those whom you love...  There is an ever-so-slight irony to the poem's title in the quotation marks within the poem, though...

...or perhaps the "transforming" or "transducing" of an unpleasant experience or outcome into inspiration or one that is positive and a catalyst for growth towards the better, James...?

Mark.....

Letting go........or moving on and putting it all behind as a past memory that seems ever present.....Surely It is difficult....and I just hope you would get over it somehow......

A very nice and touching piece....having the gentle touch you seem to always give in your writing.....

Thank you....

Connie, that's a compliment of the highest order, despite the topic matter...  I posted a reply to your poem in the archives -- thanks for the referral.

Indeed, Virginia -- this one's another country song.  Thank you for your comments.

MEM, thank you very much for your understanding words...  Though I'll never be truly "over it", I am moving forward, having appreciated those times and the Wisdom therefrom derived...  I've got a couple more to post regarding that phase, and then I'm opening the door to new topics and styles -- soon...  very soon.

Thanks, Ron.  It was heartfelt and inspired, and I guess that shows through...

I waited for someone I love for almost 4 years, and she just couldn't find the path back to me for some reason or another.  It took a lot for me to decide, as I did a month or so ago, to move on.  I'll always love her, and I know she loves me too.  It just didn't work out.
I appreciate where you're coming from there.  Thanks for the understanding.  Your work spoke to me.

Thank you, Mishtheelf, for your sincere reply.  The part that really counts, as you mention, is the fact that the love will always exist there, regardless of circumstances and realities.  Life is ultimately about progress, and we can only be at a standstill for so long until we realize that we're stagnating...  It's never easy, but it always comes down to having a positive outlook, no regrets, and cherishing the Wisdom and memories obtained.  I'm glad this work resonated with you.
