Bayside

It’s got to be Bayside,
no, no, not the oceanside,
the ocean gets too rough
and night crawlers
might peep into windows
or howl their drunken rages.

I’d rather hear tiny,
intermittent waves
in the wakes
of Catamarans
breezing by at sunset,
or the tinkling sounds
of masts as they sway
at the end of their sailing day.

I’d prefer to walk the curving tilted lines
at Mission Bay’s edge,
that remind me of Earth’s rotation,
or watch gulls catch early thermals;
teach my children
the importance of shell seeking
on a small scale,
and that the roar of the ocean
is just fine,
but by nightfall
you’ll find me
bayside.

I spent a summer aboard a cruiser when I was a child, all the sights and sounds were logged in memory till your poem called out to them.
How I miss those days
Nicely written

Ocean, lake, river, stream
even small pond out back
brings happiness it seems.

Loved the visuals in this, Corinne!
