to be taken for granted
to be used
to be wanted
to be used
to be mistreated
to be touched
to be undaunted
to be in love

Pardon me for saying this but that ain't love!

Yeeeeah, I know. it was supposed to be an account from the perspective of a person who wanted to convince themself they loved. (in other words.. someone with their head up their butt) Then again.. the poem itself provokes no indication of that.. I guess I should do some revision.

FireDancer-
   Well...I understood what this was
   trying to say.
Isn't it sad how often people do try
   and convince themselves that something
so sad and even dangerous is actually love?
   This shows the struggle well.

like that Tonic song.
"if you could only see the way she loved me..."

actually this reminded me of "Sweet dreams" by the Eurythmics.

Get a nightlife.

Fire Dancer, I think you've captured surrogate love quite well in your verse.

As being in love often indicates being blind, people often don't recognize the things you described and when they do...it hurts.

Well done, Titia

yeah, like children who find the only attention they get is negative
and they're told
"I do this because I love you."

Are they the ones who only feel loved
when they're being hurt?

I think so, maybe not the only ones, but a good portion of them.
