Because I knew
even before you did,
the kind of man
you are inside
behind the walls
of self-defense
I was not the least surprised
to find you'd taken her in...
I would expect no less from you
and yes I knew
before you even did,
that whatever hands of Gods
or Goddess
or simple kindness of the fates
would bring her home
to the compassion that is you.

She was homeless
and you,
a vacant house,
and now I pray
only that
she take the shutters down
and let the light stream in
and when the sun
shows the neglect of windows
left unwashed for years,
may she have the wisdom
and the patience
to wash the years of fears away
and outside the window of your eyes
she plant a garden
worthy of you.

(with love to my friend...be happy.)

An allegory to appeal to the differing views of readers. Nicely done so that one can see what hits closest to their view.

May she never be a piece of furniture and they both know what it takes to make a house a home. Enjoyed

j wesley....thank you my sweet....yer a doll.

moonshadow...thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed.

CH---I'm shaking my head at this "insight and wisdom" thing although I thank you for your confidence in me...I once wrote a line in another poem you might enjoy:

"I'd like to be an idiot--
certified and proud--
just so everyone would stop
asking
so many damned questions..."

With a   atcha and gratitude...

Mysteria...sorry I've neglected you my dear friend..will catch up on my e mail asp...sometimes tho...I just like to write.
HUGS my Canadian sister.

Marge...it makes me happy when I can write something positive that you enjoy--although not without sadness--this was indeed about wishing the best for everyone. So thank you.

snowpants...you are another I read more than I reply to...I'll try to remedy that in the future, but please know that I admire your work as well.   Thanks.

RS--you astound me sometimes. That "piece of furniture line"? I have said so often, it makes me feel like you know me. Thank you for reading...and should you ever need an ear to hear, I'm here.

JM...smiling back atchya...because I know YOU KNOW...do you know how much of a relief it is to have a friend that you don't have to explain a damned thing to? THANK YOU.

cx? We shall chat again my friend...we have some unfinished poetry if I recall. Let me pick up some of the debris from this passing storm, and I shall be in touch. We ARE BUDS.

Sven...and she? had better to be good to him--Or she WILL know that touch of me.

Thanks all for reading. Every reply is a love pat!!! SMOOOCHES........

Four walls are hard to break but you seem to have seen inside that which was meant to be solid.
Thank you,
