I stand here
On half-frozen
Earth...
No snow yet,
Her winds,
Their clean,
Icy scent,
Freezes in
My nostrils...

They whip around
Me, through me,
They try to
Make me bend,
Pushing at my
Back.
My thin, ragged
Coat
Not enough for
Protection
Against their
Bitterness;
My hands, raw
Red;
I cross my
Arms tight
In front of me
As I shiver,
Wishing for
Warmth.

Holes in my socks,
Numb toes,
And I look across
The plains, not
A tree in sight...
Just brown grassed,
Barren land,
Emptiness.

My windblown hair
Stings my frosted
Cheeks
Upon which my
Warm tears
Freeze.

Powerful images in this one.  It was 95 here today and I'd give anything for a little cold!

Shannon~
Imagery that leaves one with feeling
what the author has written~

'My windblown hair
Stings my frosted
Cheeks
Upon which my
Warm tears
Freeze'

Nicely done~
