transubstantiation

If I said her eyes were stars
reflecting moonlight, sunlight,
the image of skies, storms,
fire and ice, sundown, sunrise,
you would not believe.

If I said she were morning,
evening, noon, and night,
all seconds, minutes, hours and days
by which I count my life,
you would not believe.

If I said she were the sea,
rivers, oceans, lakes, and streams,
the lapping of the wave on land,
tides and beach and sand,
still you would not believe.

And I would not blame you.
What she is cannot be seen,
though you may look if you like.
Reflecting stars, material time,
transubstantiated facts,
it makes no sense.
And if God should take a wife,
God forbid He should have her.
She may say the same of me.

No, you may not see this.  Only I.
But you may hear her passing by.
This is mine.

what a very very cool poem(and song)
wonderful employ of imagery both ethereal and elemental...
wonderful phrasing and vocabulary..
and the depth of the emotion, the devotion is pure poetry...
very well done mirror man...
a most impressive write.

Nice to see a man look beyond the skin and bone into what makes up a woman....and you are close, very, very close...

this is how she should be seen. . . as more than just a woman. . . as the spirit of life. . .

well done. . . and I love the music. . .

Janet -- it is good to hear a different  perspective on this (different from my own, I mean).  Thank you.

decaflame -- skin and bone, yes.  I'm glad I've looked beyond that.  In a good way.

Sven -- thank you.  This is one of my first songs.  I will have to go back, I think.

Thank you all again.
