Virginia Salter

I feel like taking a walk
not the kind that the doc says,
no, more leisurely
with someone special on my hand
whose elbows gently rub mine
whose ears hear my inner thoughts
someone who rejoices with me in my dreams
whose eyes
twinkle now and then
when we catch the other grabbing a look
almost on the sly
someone whose footsteps keep rhythm
with my heart
and mine with his
as we stroll
allowing the dust
from our strides to mingle
and the air to carry
aromas of  flora to surround
and place their scents
into our lives
giving perfume to sweeten our memories
the kind of walk
that heals inner struggles
deep crevices of pain
one in which the goal of the steps
can be found anywhere along the way
and the remainder of the journey
is dressing, topping, whipped cream and chopped nuts
that adorn and make more savory
even the wondrous beauty
of the adventure itself
and you know,
I’d like that walk for you, too,
friend

Thank you all, wrote this one last year but would still love a walk like this for each of you and for me, too.

the D.Q., Sunshine, is about 1 1/2 miles from my place, got my shoes on, however, I just got back from a 2 mile walk so let me catch my breath

btw, the Starlight Parade to kick off fair week begins at 7:00 p.m. PDT, come on down!!!

loved this especially

allowing the dust
from our strides
to mingle

thought that was rather romantic

Someone to walk with, that's something we all long for. Nice poem

Throw your heart out in front of you
And run out to catch it.
