Realizing that the first week of December had past
I was filled with a sense of urgency to go out shopping
More out of a sense of obligation to the gods of commerce than anything else
You know the feeling
I found myself in the university commerce district
You know the one
Coffeehouseafterarttheatreaftertrendystoreafterexoticand/orhealthfoodgrocery
They’re all alike
Peopled with the same students
You know the type
Men just old enough to grow beards and wear them proudly
Women too young (for me anyway)
Struggling with consumerism I entered one of the shops
The one next to the coffee house
Or was it across from the art theatre
You know the one
The glass case filled with silver rings and necklaces acts as the counter where your purchases are made
The racks on the floor are filled with non-gender-specific hand woven goods from Peru
Batik dresses
Hemp shirts
The shelves on the wall display incense, candles, soap, all made locally
And somewhere sits the miniature Zen rock garden
Complete with miniature rake
Looking up from the earthenware jar filled with South American rain sticks
I saw what I had never expected
But always dreamed of
You know
You’ve had the same dream

Sing while you may
  -The Prophet Qa'sepel

Your pain is for you alone, As it is, As it was, As it will be forever, Amen

Ian, nice to see you here again, it's not often enough. This was fun, and makes me think there is a part 2 in the works.

I'm like Sandra, I'm hoping there's a part two.  I'm thinking that you've become speechless because you've just seen 'the most beautiful girl' in the world behind the counter.  However, it could have been the most grotesque guy ever seen behind the counter, so, I'm hoping we get to see who/what you saw.

your scene was very well-depicted until you were drawn speechless.

I have, and it is something like this. . .

I love the way that this sets the scene. . . I really like the linethatrunsthewordstogether. . . gives the idea of walking this scene. . .

The flow is excellent and I know that there's got to be another section to this. . .
