Music Of The Night

I can never remember not loving you.
The same summer rain we kissed in,
Laughed, danced, and made love in,
Only moments ago, licked my lips,
And tried to wash away forever tears.

I eagerly await ebony's cloak on this brilliance.
Then all around me I will see your shadow,
I stand alone in a garden of emptiness.
My heart as cold as the pillar that holds it up.
And once again I search for answers.

The midnight hour has become my friend, and
Solitude my tormenting shroud.
I listen to the music of the night,
For just one chord, one note of healing.
To understand the sad song of this loneliness.

The scent of the red roses,
Reminds me of your strong hands.
In evening’s bliss, you inhaled every inch of me, and,
Tenderly you wove flowers for my hair,
As you promised to love me forever.

Alone we danced to whispered sounds,
Then lay on the bank by the lake.
Two young lovers, joined as one,
Loving to the music of that night.
The music of the night was our song.

What changed?  Did I not love you enough?
I can't remember ever not loving you.
As I stand on the balcony of remembrance,
I search for a path that leads to you,
And all I hear is the music of the night.

Oh......this is so wonderfully sad and lonely.....so touching and delicate....

My heart sang along this music of the night as I read it.....

Thank you

Wow, Sharon!!  This was stunning!!  I've always loved this song so maybe I'm a little biased, but the poetry was exceptional.  Bravo!

Sharon--What a lovely, questioning poem...but, take a look around...listen, the music of the night has it's own beauty.  Read this poem and you'll see.

The Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera, could have been written for this poem. They are a perfect compliment to each other. Both achingly beautiful!

Mysteria~
You've got such a way with romantic thought~

'The scent of the red roses,
Reminds me of your strong hands.
In evening’s bliss, you inhaled every inch of me, and,
Tenderly you wove flowers for my hair,
As you promised to love me forever.'

This is exquisitely lovely~

Ah shucks thank you everyone, I saw this piece of art and remembered that feeling of being let down when I was madly in love once.  I was actually stuck today, and this little dittie came forth from that memory, so I am glad you liked it.

Janet Marie ~ Thank you...sometimes the picture comes first, and sometimes the words, but I adore putting it together.
