A racer,
She is not,
By far

Yet she
Enjoys moments
Of speed

now and again,
this car

Offering
Solitary solace
To her needy
Driver

Windows down,
Fair summer winds
Beating down,

Beating back
Vaporizing
Tears,

And no one
Riding shotgun,
Autonomous

Hands
On the wheel
Of freedom.

I can feel the wind in my hair, and the wild in my blood. Thanks for the ride!

Nice poem and welcome.

Throw your heart out in front of you
And run out to catch it.

Welcome!
I can see it all I my mind.
I must warn you though,
I recently got my permit,
and I am a terrible driver!
So I personally enjoy the
shotgun seat!

Welcome to Passions!  This reminds me of some cross-country racing I tried one time...if shotgun is anything akin to navigator...

An interesting entry into Passions! Hope you check us out, get to know us, and in general, feel welcome in this family of poets!

Made me think of the country song, "Shut Up And Drive".  I enjoyed the different ways in which this could be interpreted -- simply enjoying a drive with the wind causing the eyes to tear, or the necessity of "getting away from the pain" of a breakup by simply driving anywhere, for a while...  Good work, and welcome home.
