We dreamed our dreams of pow'r and might below The stars, when things once mattered in our minds. I heard the sound of night, the music that finds The heart and soul and lifts them from the low And darkened valleys of mind, and then unwinds Their coils of modern day to free me now. We sang our songs of future things to come And thought of worlds that soon would be our plains. I watched the slow, steady silent wanes As light was dimmed. The sky would soon become The enemy of dreams, a source of pains Reminding me of life forgotten to come. We dreamed. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |
