I wonder what it is that people see
As they play the black light voyeur
With as many reasons for being here
As those they so voraciously view

Some with lust filled eyes
Others with despair and sorrow evident in their countenance
Evident not in what they say, but in the language of their movement
The weight of the years etched deeply in their aspect
As to the rain, falling for eons, has carved the rock
While others still are youthfully oblivious to anything but the moment

The obvious is beauty
For you are, beyond all doubt, truly beautiful
But beauty is more than perfectly toned skin
And gyrations that seduce and invite
Their view of beauty is impaired by ignorance
Ignorance of knowledge and ignorance of youth

They guzzle from their flowing cups as they critique the play
Applauding the seductiveness of movement and dress
Enticing...
Captivating...
Passionate...

Do they know anything of the person within?
Do they care?
Not that they need to
For lust as some level is a healthy thing
And I am not above lust for lusts' sake

I do not judge what brings others to this place
For I have my own demons I seek to subdue
As long as there is underlying respect
Ah yes...respect is the key
The difference between those I would associate with
And those I would disdain

Not that I know you with telling familiarity
Not that I am privileged to call you friend
But you have been generous enough to converse with me
And what I see when I watch you center stage
Is the honesty in your eyes
And the kindness in your smile

And if one should lean over to me and say
"Isn't she beautiful?"
I can, with all sincerity reply...
"Why yes, she is"
