Deep in the heart

0 posted 2001-05-25 01:20 PM

On Memorial Day
are you
remembering
all of the
soldiers, sailors, and marines?
Are you
remembering
the Minutemen
who lived and died
to give us our start?
Are you
remembering
those who lived and died
in order to maintain
our American way of life
in the War of 1812,
the Spanish American War,
the Civil War,
WWI,
WWII,
Korea,
Vietnam,
Gulf War,
or all the wars
in between?
And are you
remembering
they probably felt
just as you do?
And they served ...
for our flag,
for our way of life,
for you.
We play "Taps" for the dead,
we honor the living,
for one day.
Those who served
so we could live
and enjoy
every day.
Do your eyes tear
when you hear
our National Anthem
and see "Old Glory" wave?
They should.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.

I cannot sing the Anthem without my voice catching...

I cannot say the Pledge of Allegiance without my throat closing...

I cannot hear Taps, without tearing...

I cannot say "Thank You" enough...

Yes, and I will make a point of remembering more than just one day a year. Thank you for reminding us all.

Very well spoken
Thank you for this
We must not fail to pay tribute to all men and women who have served our country, those who live and those who died
