I sit in my childhood home
My mind begins to roam
Resting on a distant day
When my happiness went away

I look around this room
Silent as your tomb
My heart begins to ache
As my hands begin to shake

Tears fill my eyes
Amidst questions of why
Memories now abound
Swirling round and round

Coming from deep within
The agony begins
I wish you were here
To calm all my fears

Oh what I've been through
And all without you
You were my friend
Until the very end

I miss you so much
The love in your touch
Remembering your last hug
Gives my heart a sad tug

I loved you so
Yet you had to go
I send you this prayer
With the utmost care

Mom, please know
Wherever I may go
A small part of you
Lives in all I do

Your memory lives on
Long after you've gone
Of the things you taught
None of which for naught

I send you my love
To heaven above
Where you reside
As an angelic guide

I know you're there
And that you care
I feel your presence here
Still so very near

So long for now
In reverence I bow
To she who gave me life
Under the surgeon's knife

All writing comes
by the grace of God.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

What a beautifully written poem, full of love and sadness.  I could relate so easily to this as I lost my father to cancer 2 years ago.  Take care......Sue

Though I can't relate to the reality of this...I can tell you that as a child, losing my mother was my single greatest fear.  And I see by your poem that it was justified.  I could see you sitting there...
