sing me a song

he asked of me
to sing

and I, I am not Sarah
or Barbra
or
Celine

so
sing, I do not, for

no song reigns
in my heart

though music fills
my soul

so I said, in whisper,
quietly,

when I cannot be out listening
to the cottonwoods whisper,
and sing their song of shimmering,
or the birds tell me their stories,
or hear the lawn sigh under my toes,
as nature unfolds before me all her glories
as the leaves play skip along the sidewalk
to be where I am safe, in heart's home and sure,
where one might hear song in just my talk,

I take what I have
and sing in my heart
along with them
and

fly

and then

he smiled

beguiled, just a wee bit,

as now before him,
he could see it,
that all along
there was a song

in my soul

*dedicated to all the great divas out there....*

Lady,

This is one of your best.  All I can say is WOW!  It's truly beautifully peaceful and brings to me a smile.  Thank you for this.

Great dedication to the divas....I have written hundreds of song lyrics and have listened to so many people try to sing and always appreciated the effort although many should be honest with themselves and realize that the song may just be in their soul only! I think this is an honest poem from your point of view. You don't have to be a singer to have music in your soul!  Very enjoyable!

Lady:

and sing in my heart
along with them"

Without a song in your heart...there is no music.  This was much enjoyed!

THank you for the lovely self portrait,
Now I know the kind of songs you have in your heart
Much more beautiful than any aria
THis poem is just lovely.
And now I'm going back for another read

There is no need to sing, when the melody of the soul outpours such wonderful words...gentle smile

So soft, so insightful, and so honest...I loved this one big time!  I do Celine but no one hears.

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

yes, there's a song in your soul, but I say one doesn't have to be Barbra, Celine or even Maria Callas...we are to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, even if it's a noise, if it is our song, our song of joy or of need, of praise or pain, we must make it...so sing, even if you must go into the woods in order to sing with the confidence one needs to share their emotions with Him.

bye, I think I'm going to the woods!
