today is my birthday
and you said a few words
really just blew it off
while everyone else sang songs
gave gifts, hugs, and kisses
i went home and looked at the present
i had bought for your birthday
eight months in advance
because it was perfect
for a perfect person like you
i thought how every day
i struggled not to give it to you
almost unable to contain my excitement
just as i hadn't been able to before
which is why i bought it in the first place
tomorrow your birthday will come
and i will say a few words
really just blow it off
while everyone else celebrates
your day
and i'll think of the present
i had bought for your birthday
eight months in advance
collecting dust and
waiting for the year
an imperfect person like you
deserves perfect love

You can do lotta things at 18 yuh more freedom less responsibility. Great way to get it started with a poem!

Well Happy Birthday! And if someone "blew off your birthday", that really hurts, so I think you have to tell them how it made you feel so you loose any toxic feelings, and are able to enjoy a wonderful birthday memory. I enjoyed your poem.

Happy Birthday, and you might as well start now, letting go of people that don't appreciate you. Or you will still be trying when you have my birthday, which is so many more years.

Happy Birthday! And I can relate to how deeply it stings when you take the care and time for that special "one", and the special "one" does not return the same loving gesture. You have so many journeys ahead of you, follow new roads and enjoy being 21. Ah, if only I could go back...

Happy 18th birthday to you!! I know how it hurts for someone you really like to not remember your special day. When you get as old as me you get alot of surprise parties because no one knows if you will still be here on your birthday! Like your poem and hope you like it here with us at PIP. ME
