Tired, Hungry, Lonely

I work too many hours, for too little pay
arrive on time whether sick, burdened or hungover
give every ounce of talent I have to the clientele
stand in the shadows while others tan with praise
much too tired to protest, I barely even mind

I create evening’s gourmet, breathing in every scent
not taking a bite, there isn’t the time
the flavors already blended through familiarity
I know what I do and I do it well
it’s only after I’m home
that I realize, I’m hungry, too

I recline much too late, given someone waits in my bed
body aching from the day, until I understand the heart
is much too still for being in such company
yet adverse to any connection
it is no great mystery
when the night ends true to it’s course
reluctantly approaching lonely

approaching lonely, as another lonely one will do. Excellent write here, and touching on thoughts of many.

You can never stand in anyones shadow you shine so brightly, and every word sparkles. I stand in awe, and did I say I enjoyed this very much too.
