At 4 she had never flown
And her mother,
With nervous anticipation
Tried to keep her both
Still and occupied.

She had socks…
Which she showed me
With the usual 4 yr old
Abandon that has
Nothing to do with
Modesty.

A coloring book,
“Baby”, and back pack
huddled in hushed tones
at her side…as she asked again
“are we flying yet?”

I had to grin….
And as we began to move
With ever increasing speed
Down the runway,
I leaned over , looked into big eyes,
And whispered.

Her mother was a bit confused
As to why she was flapping her arms.

I just grinned…

And as we made the first banking turn,
Gave back the thumbs up
Flashed with big smile
From a 4 yr old.
