the magic of a song
from beginning
to its end
you can form a lover
from once was
just a friend

I've been in love forever
waiting in the wings
while other poets wanting
of songs they can sing

this time I jumped in first
heartfirst, unafraid
I let you know at once how long
my decision has been made

I cannot recall before
there was you inside my song
I don't think I could even sing
and if so I did it wrong

I gained my voice inside for you
the desire, eternal sprung
and in the wings I fell to earth
your beauty was always sung

it's grand how a song
can join hearts that were two
the music is now fading
never was dissuading
hear me sing how I love you

Hey man, whacha thinkin'?  this looks short and simple but i find a lot of heart in it!  I especially like the thought and feeling of:

I've been in love forever
waiting in the wings
while other poets wanting
of songs they can sing

I also like

I gained my voice inside for you
the desire, eternal sprung
and in the wings I fell to earth
Your beauty was always sung

Its just an awesome visual and thats what crazy readers like. uhuh.

nice thoughts

Very nice write, Walt.  I can see your heart in this one and it is beautiful.

the transition from the beginning of this message to the end is so well done, so finely crafted to show the transition within you

Walt~
If I were to find this verse on a card ~

'the magic of a song
from its beginning
to its end
you can form a lover
from what was once
just a friend'

I'd buy a dozen ! !

May I suggest that you go to www.bluemountain.com and submit it ?
At the very bottom of their opening page
there is a link for submitting poetry.

I've looked it up and down searching for where I like it best.......I think I simply like it all........

It's really very nice
Thank you
