Love Song

The cricket’s sing a love song
beneath my window every night,
they play a winged instrument
with mating as their flight.

Gentle serenade they keep
and work so hard at song,
I dream within their symphony
that’s finished before dawn.

Though crickets are cracked
to think their wings attractive,
because the believe they rub and rub
and what they believe, is.

Some folks sure don't like them,
and would pay to have them gone,
to me the sound of cricket love
is music for which I long.

______
just for fun...write some more verses...or not

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

I like them just fine, OUTSIDE, from a good distance, perferably with a steel door between us.
They do make beautiful music, though, don't they?   Nasty as they are!   LOL

My compliments, Martie, on the write, which was gentle and soothing.

Not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

The heat of the summer night,
brings music to my ears
Crickets form their symphony
and then begin to play

Tovi--Yes, outside...didn't I say outside?  No, I said beneath...but I meant outside.  Thanks for your reply.

Logan--thanks for your verse...enjoyed.

Sometimes our crickets ARE so loud they seem to be INSIDE...

your crickets are there already, huh?  Ours have a few more weeks to hatch...soon enough...them and the fireflies...

and I agree, ANY excuse to write, and I'll take it...glad YOU do too!  Big Smiles!

I love the sound of crickets! I used to fall asleep to them in the summer down at the shore. Fun little poem, Martie!

The cricket's sound is just a chirp
It's not a hiccup, cough or burp
It's not a sigh, a yawn or shrug
It's just the chirping of a bug
But when he gets into your house
You'd like to kill that little louse!

Say it, Martie! That's the ticket!
Talk about the joy of cricket.
Killing them when I am able
Puts the food upon my table.
Gee, I love that little guy
Especially when I see him die!
