How dare you call and say to me
He is not all I thought him to be
I never asked for your advice
And I tried so hard to treat you nice

Do you think it’s easy to be # 2
Remember it wasn’t him who left you
You threw him out and said you were done
Now you call and remind me you were # 1

What you had was a lifetime ago
He’s out of your life so let it go
We have the family you didn’t need
I care for the children you left out of greed

You said you didn’t want to interfere
Then try to explain what brought you here
Of your children you never did ask
I’ll dry their tears though it’s your task

I’ll make up more stories for them to hear
About why you’re too busy to see them this year
But don’t speak of the man –my husband their father
If you want him back then you shouldn’t bother

You see he died years ago
And I couldn’t reach you to let you know
If you could just see the look on your face
You’d know what it is to be a disgrace

So go along now and don’t return
I see love is a lesson you never did learn
Follow the path that lead you away
We will remember your name when we pray.

The character portrayal in this is excellent and leaves me shaking my head sadly.  So very true, this type of person is far too common.   My applause, azblond.

Thank you Tovi.  I think this one was a product of too many Lifetime Movies For Women!

Wow, this was spellbinding.  One man's fiction is another man's truth.  I am glad this is not yours.  Well done.

Thank you everyone for your comments.  I honestly feel that things we refuse to talk about allow those doing wrong to grow in power, so even if we put fiction into words, someone living the pain in silence can feel they have a voice.
