"Soft Moonlight"

as i sit here snuggled under my covers in bed
soft moonlight streams through my window near
my thoughts drift slowly over to you
as i wish that you were right here

i look up at the sky
the stars twinkle from high
my heart cries for us both tonight
as it lets out it's weary sigh

though i can not see you face to face
i hear the sadness coming in over the line
i want to reassure you of my love
and tell you everything will work out just fine

please do not give up
and to yourself you must be true
as night starts to turn to dawn
i roll over and reach out for you

empty space meets my hand
as i hold my pillow tight
wishing that tomorrow would come
and i can be through with tonight

soft moonlight now replaced
by the rising sun
as night has now passed
and a new day has begun

please know that i am here
what we have is destiny and fate
we are lovers, best friends
and forever one another's soul-mate

i love you.

*written for a very special woman in my life, annette. annette came into my life about 2 1/2 months ago and while our relationship at this time is long distance and uncertain, i just wanted all of my dear friends here at Passions to know she is an incredible woman who brings me much joy and happiness. i know the nature of this poem states other wise, as it is a bit melancholy...but life is not always happy. nonetheless i do love her very much and everyday I thank our Lord for bringing her into my life. i don't normally do this...but if i could bestow any advice to any of you, it would be if you happen to be lucky enough to find true love, hold onto it. okay enough of my ramblings. love you all!
