The music floats through the air
In a symphony beyond compare
Each note enters my heart
As I pray for a new start

The melody sets my soul free
The way it used to be
Oh such a long time ago
Before life’s rain and snow

Buried in the distant past
The memories awaken at last
Of a little girl’s dreams
More real now than they seem

She envisioned a handsome man
Who’d hold her with strong hands
Chasing away all her fears
Always keeping her near

He didn’t have to be a knight
Just one who wouldn’t lose sight
Of the most important things
In the trials life can bring

So each and every day
She’d bow her head and pray
Religiously without fail
To heaven the prayers would sail

Something must have went wrong
Because today she sings a sad song
One of a love that was lost
At the greatest of all costs

No one is really to blame
Both parties bear the shame
Neither can undo what has been done
They have watched the setting sun

Tears have been shed
For their love is dead
It was laid to rest
After failing life's test

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

This is soooooo sad, Lone Wolf. I'm sure we can all relate to this. Very well expressed.

Love is not an easy thing and is often destroyed by life.  I enjoyed this poem.

This is very moving, Jennifer, very touching.
