And on the stretch
Between waters edge
And lands feet,
The ever-shifting place
Where you can walk,
But may sink,
There is no foundation
To build upon,
And no current to travel.

Still,
The lapping of wave
And rustle of leaf
Mix without bigotry
To serenade ears
Accustomed to both
Enticing one to linger
Before trudging back
To solid ground
