Listening to every heart

Moving On

I needed you today…
long before you
were gone,
I had called your name,
you played a game,
pretended not to hear,
and like the little
boy who cried
Wolf, you played
the game once too often…

I needed you today
but your games of the past
got in the way of the
present, so I swept away
the cobwebs in my mind
and told myself
you were gone,
good and gone,
and even though I
needed you today,
I moved on.

Oh dear poet...this one aches with tears of
"if only"....so often by the time the ones
that we need see how much we need
them...it's much to late...to late to go
back and need them all over again.  My heart
goes to you...through poetry and friendship
may you find comfort~

Sunshine....Tough love. Sad, yet full of resolve...and taking care of one's self. Thanks for sharing. Bob

How unfortunate these games we sometimes play... can't blame ya for steppin' out!

The truly sad part is that no one ever wins in these games.  Both parties lose in one way or another.  Very sad thoughts, Sunshine.

Karilea--This says so much about lonliness and loss of friendship...made me feel so sad...sometimes we just have to walk on though.

We do 'move on' and often it is best we do - with a little 'good fortune' - we can find a new friend - that fills the void left by the old one. still - I confess to knowing the feeling - and it's apparent others do too -
as always - you express yourself most beautifully

even though I
needed you today,
I moved on.

Solid ending.  Wonderfully presented.
