Rewrite:

Old shadows of remembrance

I stood and gazed the mountains once more.
Just as I gazed, with the eyes of before.
Different from those of one of eighteen.
Humbled in memory the stun of the scene.

The peaks cut across the light of the sun.
Filling the valley with red on the run.
And snow in the shade still glistens cold blue,
The only difference was not missing you.

The queazy still soars in lonesome encase
I still feel its awe, its giant embrace.
The distance, the fright, the night and the far,
The dazzle of stars on background of tar.

The peeling and loss a place called home,
The feeling of lost, the fear of alone.
I could not encase the call of the wild
I was a child of a climate of mild.

Aurora still modes prime colors in wed.
And I'm alive and the damn war is dead.

*shaking me head* ....
nothing I could say will do this one justice...
the imagery ... the emotions ... the wisdom ... the intent...
this one will be with me for a long time of remembrance.

oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive

Seymour, my friend~
With phrases like these -
you paint the remembrance vividly.

'I stood and gazed the mountains once more.
Just as I gazed, with the eyes of before.'

'The peaks cut across the light of the sun.
Filling the valley with red on the run.'

'Aurora still modes prime colors in wed.
And I'm alive and the damn war is dead.'

Oh, yes ... dear poet -
the battle from within dies on the setting sun.

You are just WONDERFUL !
Verse is alive and flourishing in you !

I'd missed this one, Seymour... maybe the fates were saving it for now to keep me from missing you so much... when the melancholy of memory weighs heavy. *S* Superb work... Of course, that's guaranteed when your name is on a poem! *S*
