This was inspired by another poet here and who wanted to vent...
Well, so do I !! So here goes....

It's funny, that I've been writing for years.
I've written about love, and a whole lot of tears.
About happiness, loneliness, boredom and such.
But never let, myself reveal too much.

I always edit, every word that I write,
just in case, something's not right.
I smother my feelings, I'm afraid to let go.
The true depths of me, I don't let show.

Sometimes I wonder, what holds me back?
Maybe it's the courage, that I seem to lack?
Though, my writing is such, a comfort to me.
The real me, I'm afraid of what others may see.

I've tried to write, about the fire in my soul.
And even my anger, somehow can't be told.
I lighten my words, careful of what's said.
Oh, for once to write, what's really in my head.

To let the words pour, unedited and free.
would be such a cleansing, in my heart for me.
To sit down and write what's stored in my soul,
and To say 'to hell with it', I'm on a roll.

But I know that I won't, myself I've conditioned.
All that you'll see is a false rendition.
My words held in check, and edited always.
the depths of my being, glossed over like glaze.

So much to write, yet so little to be said.
Never to be known, what's lodged in my head.
A most beautiful poem, you'll never see.
Because this poets pen, will never flow free.

If you can't make it so,
you need to let it go!

I understand what you say.
"I smother my feelings, I'm afraid to let go.
The true depths of me, I don't let show.

You go, girl!  Let it go and flow!  You have just taken the first step ... now let us have it.  Give us the "you" constrained no longer.  We love you and your work as no one else.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.
