Wynter Challenge completed in free verse. Oh my aching metrenome

There's no joy in Mudville
sorrow rains
cascading down
creating small
islands of misery
where people huddle together
sharing solace
while the sky as
muddy eyed as the
town
watches
fretfully.

There's no joy in Mudville
guilt drizzles
knowingly on
subduing all color
and making all
bleak
brown and bleak
as it listens
woefully
to pathos
unrestrained

There's no joy in Mudville
pain is the norm
pulsating to the wind
a heartbeat of
agony
growing ever
stronger in voice
as the world falls down
around its ears
to become the plaintive
cry of
mourning

There's no joy in Mudville
justice in travesty
is not poetic
and the smell of
desolation
Incarcerates the spirit
look
see the scars
there's no joy in Mudville
and Mudville
is me.
