I slowly rise up off the mat,
I'm down, but am I out?
I take a pen in gnarly hand,
who cares I've got the gout?

Shirley there's an ode in here,
waiting to be writ,
Hid within my empty noggin',
as here, alone I sit.

I ruminate on poets past,
they are my inspiration,
Then I recall my wayward schoolin',
I fear my ruination.

Browning, Frost, and all the rest,
I call to poets all,
Fill my brain with flowered odes,
What's wrong? You deaf y'all?

All is lost, my mind is blank,
tonight, my pen is through,
I dream to be a Yogi Bear,
but fear I am Boo Boo.

'Tis gout you've got? A mere detail
to overcome ~ you'll do it!
We'll outfit you with Talk and Type ~
somehow we'll get you through it!
Yes, Shirley knows it's time to write ~
she's rootin' til she's dizzy,
along with Frost on Snowy Night
and Brownings (Bob and Lizzy!)
So ease your mind, my wordsmith friend
we know you'll pen a "lulu"
and by the way, I have to ask,
What's wrong with bein' Boo Boo??

( ~ he's my favorite!)

Oh sir you are definatly showing your age. My grandchildren never heard of a bear called Boo Boo. In fact my children can't remember either. Oh well I liked him!!
