Lust

We have the New Testament to thank
For our definition of lust.
By this I refer
Not to the moment
When we glance,
With surprise
And interest,
Upon the arrival of a friend
Or acquaintance,
As we would a meteorite,
But later,
When deep in night,
We get up,
Put on our pants, shirt, and hunting boots,
Then tramp outside
To dig it up.

hehe... well.. i LOVE the title.... i don't really get the digging it up part and the putting the pants and boots on... but... hey, it's an interesting concept, i guess...

i thought the title would more lend itself to taking the boots and pants off.... hmmmm..... now that's an interesting concept, as well, eh? LOL

well, whatever you have to do to get it... go dig it up if you need to.... usually it just wakes me up in the middle of the night all by itself and then.... oh never mind

i'll just write a poem about it... rofl *wink*

Love vs. Lust.....

When deep in night,
We get up,
Put on our pants, shirt, and hunting boots,
Then tramp outside
To dig it up.

Looking for love in all the wrong places???....barhopping perhaps..LOL

Nice thought provoking poem.

I love the way this leaves the reader to search for the clues within your words.  I ponder....the New Testament?  I shall reflect.  Wonderful, Bob, you've perked my interest with this!

Seymour...Thank you.

Doreen ..... I think you may be right. This may be much to cryptic. Must learn to be more direct. Thanks much.

Mike....Was never much good at barhopping...lack the coordination I think. Though I do recall one night singing THE "hymn" from atop a taxi in Juarez.  Thanks for the comments.

Just A Woman ... So kind. I think that what I was after was the contrast between noticing, admiring, appreciating versus "dwelling on". Probably needs some work.

Claire....Thank you, and you are absolutely right.   Bob

Tis one thing to casually flirt, quite another to become obsessed, yes?

RMW,
I got the cryptic meaning as being  it's the going back after you buried it that makes it sinful.

Took reading it just twice...not so cryptic.  First glance...innocent, digging it up...deliberate.  Somehow guilt by association with lust.  Very thought provoking.  Enjoyed!

Interesting poem, I had a hard time following to be truthful

Sunshine, Corinne, doreen, Kethry, JLR and Irish Rose...thank you all for the interest. I think that the comments ended up being more thought provoking than the poem. Bob

Jellybean and Virgina...thanks folks.

Michael....Funny works with me. In fact, "funny" is how I feel when the title of this poem keeps popping up on the forum. I'm still getting accustomed to the way this place works....technically. Had I remembered that the title was going to continue to parade across the screen, arcade fashion, I would have brought a rifle to put an end to it. Thanks for sharing. Bob

This is my #1 for the day. Interesting and may leave interpretation to the reader which is in truth where the true meaning of a poem lies. Ya know though this could be of a serial killer who likes to look at his past victims- see way open to interpretation
