~*~ Fall Back ~ Spring Forward ~ * ~

Don’t forget…“fall back, spring forward”.
That is what the man on the radio just said.
Gee, all that I could think of was loosing,
One more precious hour of sleep in my bed!

But then I thought of my yard full of daffodils,
Standing sentry tall, each and every row,
Like glowing curtains of the brightest yellow,
Ready to rise on what was to be the "real show".

Their curtain will rise on a multitude of tulips,
In colors like I am sure you’ve not seen.
Parrot tulips, fringed in minted green,
They’re the prettiest flowers I have ever seen.

This is Spring, when neighbours come on over,
Now I know it's just to get a little closer look.
And then there’s dear old, Mrs. Williamson,
Camera in hand, taking pictures for her book.

I plant over 800 tulips and it’s really,
Quite a spectacular show of color in spring,
But there’s a method in my madness,
When I painstakingly do this "spring thing”.

I call them my  “Friendship Tulips”,
Their show of color is so very grand,
And as each neighbour comes to visit,
I put 10 beautiful tulips in their hand.

It is a shame that I have to grow a garden,
To get my neighbours to come to pay a call,
Because until the tulips come out in April,
They never seem to bother with me at all.

Each year I will keep on planting them,
Bending over and planting bulbs to fall's end.
And every year I hope that this will be the year,
I might just make myself a new tulip friend.

I adore tulips, loved the picture and the title is absolutely original!

Irish Rose: These are something else too!  Look at a florist shop, just so different.  The title and the poem came as you can probably tell, in a split second, when they announced daylight savings time, he he

Nan: You ever come to Vancouver - you got it girl!

I live in the midst of tulip fields.  Our heralded tulip tour starts next weekend.  The whole world will be by my door.  If you don't make a new tulip friend you have made a new poetry friend with this one.  Love,  Joyce

Marge ~*~ Trust you to find my "hidden" message yet again - budding friendship it was! You are too smart - I shall hide it better next time.

Joyce ~*~ Ever hear of La Conner in the Washington State?  They have an unbelievable tulip display in about two weeks, and it is about the quaintest little place you have ever seen in your life; all the little antique stores, etc.  And thank you - I shall gladly take you into my realm of poetry friends - actually, I already had!  Thanks for reading.  This was all in fun!
