Don’t you say you want a hero

Don’t you say you want a home

Those words were spoken last by Nero

As he watched the flames of Rome

Don’t you say your heart is burning

And your tears they taste like rain

Can’t you see I’m only learning

Trying to cope with my own pain

I know I should be better than this

I know I should be better

Last night lies hidden in the bliss

I know I should be better

Here I stand like a broken Butterfly

A moth that touched the burning light

You held me again and taught me how to fly

Help me paint my wings tonight

A life can be a long and weary road

We can walk but please don’t fake it

Together we can struggle with our load

Together we can make it

I know I should be better than this

I know I should be better

Last night lies hidden in the bliss

I know I should be better

Don’t you say you want a hero

Don’t you say you want a home

Those words were spoken last by Nero

As he watched the flames of Rome

Wow ~ I completely enjoyed this, Jon. Thanks for the link to the song. The arrangement and vocals certainly captivate the contemplative theme of the lyrics. Very nicely done. (o:

Great lyrics, Jon! I wonder if it sounds anything like it does in my head. Maybe someday these music links will work for me.
