a tiny kitten dies tonight--
this one born, it was not right...
I saw when it did not raise head,
this one was born to join the dead.

No nurse of nurture, did it seek.
no mother's milk, no dry skinned teat--
and now malnourished lethargy
a trail of tears of limp necked sweet.

A blue-eyed girl with blonde locks, sweep,
a gentle touch---a young girl's weep--
"Save it, Mom," she gives to me
gift--impossibility....
and with a dropper
I do pry
the tiny teeth
of feline cry--
panting---faster
faster, lies,
the promise of a life---
that DIES.

She named it Salem.
Made a cross.
Said her prayers
before shoebox
and begged me please,
to hear her prayers,
to know that Salem
was aware...

How much stronger
could I love?
As I rub the
shoulders of
the purity
of love endowed
simplicity
of life in "wow"...
and the parallel intend
the cycles of life's neverend.

And profound of newborn cry,
a kitten's hunger of alive...
I pray I may go round again,
not just nine, but count lives ten.

*we love you, Salem. love from krista, and your family*

Oh, Serenity~
A tender piece of touch ...
and it does ...

Wonderfully written from the heart ... it shows.

it is moments like this that remind and humble me to the pure untouchable power of the written word.
When written from gifted pen and sincerity of express..poetry can break our hearts, take our breath, rile our senses, touch our soul.
Sen this poem is an amazing write...
I cant describe the effect those first three verses had on me, the whole poem...
so I will just thank you for it and for sharing this moment.
love ya me twin
me

oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive

Darn you, so early am I crying in my coffee. I know that somewhere down thru life she will remember how her mother stood by her side. Lucky she is to have a mother such as you.

This is just so amazing that when you told me about this, and i read this posted poem, I had to wait to re-read before repling. But i think that you handle this very well with on children and death.  And how a child can be so caring for any lifes breath. Saying prayers for the grave side services today.

I want to thank you all and my daughter says thanks too. "fix it, mom." How I wish I could, fix everything for her. I'm afraid she learned two lessons yesterday. sigh...
thanks again.

This is heartbreaking... What an outpouring of love and grief... child for kitten, mother for child... Wonderfully written!
